Natural Hair Straightening Tips

There are many methods to straighten hair, but not all of them are natural. Although the effects are not usually permanent, natural hair straightening does not damage your hair. Here are some natural hair straightening tips to turn your coarse locks into smooth, sexy strands.

Crazy for coconuts

Use coconut milk to straighten your hair. You can find coconut milk for sale at many natural food type grocery stores. Take a full glass of coconut milk and add the juice of one lemon. Mix this well, then place it in the refrigerator until a layer of cream rises to the top. Apply the cream to your head and cover your head with a hot towel for about an hour. Wash the cream out with a mild shampoo for noticeably straighter hair.

Mad for milk

Another great way to naturally straighten your hair is by using whole milk. Fill a bottle with milk and spray onto your dry hair. After letting the milk set for 20 minutes, shampoo and condition as usual. Blow dry and style your newly cleaned hair for the best results.

Hot for oil treatments

Hot oil treatments are also a common way to add moisture to dry hair and enhance your hair's natural ability to straighten. Begin by heating some castor or soybean oil on the stove or in the microwave. Heat it just until it is warm to the touch and apply it to your scalp. Let the oil sit for 30 minutes, and then wash your head with a mild shampoo. Blow dry your hair to allow the oils to penetrate deeper into the strands, leaving your hair looking lustrous and glossy.
